Once you (the Intended Parents) have made your selection on the Donor you would like to work with, just call SDI with your selection (ID# and first name will be asked from you). If you do not find a Donor on our website that meets your selection criteria, SDI will advertise on your behalf at no cost or obligation to use our agency.

Upon both parties agreeing to proceed forward, the contract will be sent out first to the Donor then to the Intended Parents. The Recipient Couple has 14 days to return the signed contracts along with fees due to SDI. The Donor will then begin his process, first by undergoing FDA mandated medical screening for infectious diseases. 

The next step is sperm analysis where your Donor’s sperm is tested for count, motility and morphology. If the specimen is acceptable, the average ejaculate is equalized and frozen for six months. SDI pays for the analysis and storage. After six months the Donor goes through another round of medical screening. If the second round of screening is good, 2 vials are shipped to your fertility doctor of choice. The Recipient Couple pays for the retrieval and shipment- see our Fees page.

If for any reason the sperm donor chosen by the Recipient Couple does not pass any one of these test the Recipient Couple has 1 year to find another Donor to work with through SDI.
